These include heavy metals and toxic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and 6PPD. “During rain events, [particles] are washed off and they get into environments where they can make aquatic ecosystems sick,” she says.

A typical synthetic soccer field, according to one estimate, requires at least 100 tonnes of crumb rubber – about 22,000 tyres’ worth.

The European Union is moving towards a ban on synthetic turf made from crumb rubber, while in the US, California is joining several other states in introducing legislation to ban fake grass that contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as “forever chemicals”.

In recent years, synthetic turf manufacturers have begun to move away from crumb rubber, instead using organic infill material, such as cork and engineered wood chips. Even so, the amount of plastic such fields require is concerning, says Garnet Brownbill, spokesperson for the Natural Turf Alliance.

“We’re looking at anywhere between 250 and 500 [tonnes] of plastic in one field alone. The reality is most of that currently cannot be recycled within Australia,” Brownbill says.

Prof Hugh Durrant-Whyte, the NSW chief scientist, concluded in his June report that “both rubber infill and turf fibre blades from synthetic turf fields are found in waterways in NSW” and that the “amount of turf fibres lost from a synthetic turf field is likely to be in the hundreds of kilograms per year”. The report recommended more research into its impacts and that measures be taken to mitigate environmental risks. But he stopped short of suggesting it should be banned.

Last week, the directors of the Total Environment Centre and its Australian Microplastic Assessment Project (Ausmap) wrote to the NSW environment minister, Penny Sharpe, calling for a five-year moratorium on new planning and approvals for synthetic grass fields, and to subject existing fields to “pollution mitigation measures as soon as possible”.

Dr Michelle Blewitt, an Ausmap director, says early results from recent stormwater sampling, which tested microplastic loss from a north-west Sydney turf field, showed that up to 70,000 particles of rubber crumb and more than 50,000 particles of synthetic grass were captured in a single trap sample.

“In most of these fields … there’s no traps or any devices to contain the loss of these grass pieces going into the environment. We’re finding them very regularly in our samples across the country,” Blewitt says.

Crumb rubber is of particular environmental concern because the material degrades when exposed to the sun and contains “thousands of other chemicals that are included into tyres during their manufacture,” says Dr Shima Ziajahromi, of Griffith University’s Australian Rivers Institute.

fake grass is growing in popularity in Australia, despite concerns about its impact

Environmental groups say the allure of evergreen synthetic turf contrasts to its microplastic pollution levels and heat absorption.

For those living in small spaces, artificial grass has its upsides. It’s uniformly green, year round, without the need for watering, mowing or any other upkeep.

The allure of evergreen sporting fields has also seen synthetic turf become an increasingly popular surface, driven by constraints on open space while population density increases.

In New South Wales, the number of suburban sporting fields made from artificial turf has increased sixfold in the last five years, jumping from 30 in 2018 to 181, according to a report released by the state’s chief scientist in June.

But concerns about microplastics, urban heat and the chemical compounds in synthetic grass have become points of contention for environment and community groups, who are calling for the surface to be banned.

A US invention, the first artificial grass was installed in a school recreation area in Rhode Island in 1964. The surface typically has several components, including polypropylene fibres that mimic the blades of natural turf, and an “infill” layer for shock absorption, which is most commonly made of crumb rubber from used tyres.

We get asked this question a lot and the answer is a resounding…probably

We get asked this question a lot and the answer is a resounding…probably. The reality is there are some jobs that are better handled by professionals. Yards of extreme size that require a lot of seaming, those with severe grades and/or soils that are exceptionally rocky may prove too much for Jane and Joe Homeowner. But for a flat-ish, moderately-sized yard with minimal seaming requirements and unexceptional soil conditions, doing it yourself is certainly an option.

To figure out if you can install artificial grass yourself, begin by examining the potential job site. Will you need to excavate out concrete, asphalt, soils, or other existing materials? Will you be able to get sub-base materials imported onto the site? Are there any accessibility requirements that will have to be taken into consideration? Does the area currently drain properly?

Take stock of your native soil. You’ll need to excavate out at least 3 inches worth. Figure out if the soil can be dug easily. Will you be able to repurpose the soil after excavation or will you need to pay to dispose of it? You’ll be replacing those three inches of native soil with either road base or decomposed granite. Stop by your local gravel and rock supply store, if available, and find out how much 3 inches by the square-footage of your yard is going to set you back.

By now you’ll start to have some idea of what your project is going to cost. Don’t forget to factor in the price of infill, too. Don’t skip this part – it might seem like you can get away with forgoing infill but neglecting it may void your lifetime warranty.

Tally up these expenses and add them to the cost of your grass. You’ll also want to rent a vibrating plate-compactor to properly set your sub-base and a power broom to finish off the grass after you’ve installed it. You’ll also need to buy a whole bunch of nails (hopefully you already have the hammer…if not then, uh, this blog post probably wasn’t for you).

The Benefits of a DIY Artificial Grass Installation

There are many great reasons to install an artificial grass lawn, a number of which we’ve covered here on the Purchase Green blog. Generally, people considering artificial grass are concerned with benefits such as reducing water consumption, saving time and energy on lawn maintenance or just simply having a great-looking lawn year-round.

As difficult as it may be to believe, some people aren’t considering artificial grass! Generally you will find having artificial grass installed costs more than installing a natural lawn. A good, experienced installer will charge somewhere in the $8-$12 per square-foot range. Two-thirds of that price goes to the installer. If you do it yourself, you’re looking at a $3-$4 per square foot price, which is very close to the cost to install natural turf. The good news is Purchase Green artificial grass pays for itself in just a few years’ time if you have it installed and even sooner if you do it yourself. There are also a variety of financing options available.

At Purchase Green our artificial grasses are actually very affordable. The escalation in cost – and what people often think is the price of artificial grass – comes with the aforementioned professional installation. The artificial grass installation process is not a complicated one. It is, however, a labor-intensive one. But, depending on certain factors, it may be a job you can do yourself.

We’ve got a great, free eBook on do-it-yourself artificial grass installation. So if you’re willing and able to put in a few days of good, old-fashioned manual labor you might find that you can in fact afford artificial grass – and you may wind up with bigger muscles too!

Artificial grass is a popular choice for many homeowners

Artificial grass is a popular choice for many homeowners because it requires little maintenance and can provide a beautiful, green lawn all year round. However, artificial grass does come with a cost and weight is one of the major factors that affects pricing. In general, the more the turf weighs, the higher the cost will be. This is due to the fact that denser turf requires more material. Heavyweight and plush artificial grass are usually the most popular choices because they provide a soft, cushioned surface. But if you have pets present or consistent cleaning is necessary, a less dense choice will provide more advanced drainage.

Choosing the right artificial turf can be a tough decision. There are many factors to consider, such as price, durability, and of course, height. Pile height is an important aspect to take into account – a taller grass will give a more luxurious feel but may be more expensive. It's also worth noting that taller grass will be heavier and more likely to bend over or become matted with use. For areas that see a lot of foot traffic, it might be best to go with a shorter grass in order to avoid matting. Remember that regular brushing will be necessary to keep taller grass blades standing up straight.

Based on the studies made by the Academics

Based on the studies made by the Academics, they have found that when lawn grass is cut, they release some kind of hydrocarbons into the surrounding and also into the atmosphere which will make even a bad smog day worst! It is high time people actually begin to check the pollution levels before touching a lawn mover. Perhaps a lawn mover could be one of the top environmental polluters! Whenever you use an artificial grass, none of the above concerns arises. Your entire home or surroundings becomes very environmental friendly. Installing artificial grass is also very easy and it is not tiresome at all, it can be easily installed on any hard surface.

Installing artificial grass will tremendously reduce air pollution

Installing artificial grass will tremendously reduce air pollution, you might wonder how? Yes, it is very true, when using waterless grass you need not use a lawn mover to cut or trim them. Do you know that using a lawn mover for just one hour with petrol is almost equivalent to hundred mile car drive? This fact was given by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Here is interesting information that was discovered by the researchers in Sweden. When you look at both Environmental Protection Agency which is in the United States as well as the European Union (EU) who are seeking to reduce air pollution from all non-road engines such as lawn mover; many people think that they need to fit a catalytic converter for their lawn movers to reduce pollution, but this is not true; the best and the excellent alternative is nothing but to install artificial or waterless grass which will reduce pollution at the same time reduce our daily work for maintenance.

Benefits of Using Waterless Grass for the Environment

Waterless grasses are nothing but artificial grass made from plastic which is considered to be very eco friendly, requires less maintenance and watering. The best part it that there is no need to supply any kind of manures or fertilizers which is a tiresome job and it is a very harmful for the environment when it rains, as the run off carries the fertilizes and other harmful substances present in it and they flow into near by water bodies like rivers, lakes, ponds and water tables and it slowly beings to pollute them. In this article you will see more information about artificial grasses or waterless grasses and their numerous benefits.

Artificial Grass Cost and Savings

To find out how much artificial grass can save you, we’re going to set up a scenario.

Let’s say you water your natural sod lawn for six months out of the entire year and spend about $15 on the cost of water. You also fertilize your lawn once a year for $0.20 a square foot. The maintenance cost $25 a week (whether you or professional takes care of it.

Written out like this, maintaining your lawn doesn’t seem too expensive. But when you add it all together, you’re spending over $800 on your lawn every year.

Now let’s look at the cost of an artificial grass lawn.

You don’t have to spend any money on water. You don’t have to fertilize it. You don’t have to do any gardening. So your annual cost for an artificial lawn is $0. And artificial lawns can last about 20 years without any maintenance.

Yes, an artificial lawn is expensive upfront, but it saves you a lot more money in the long run.

The Overall Savings of Artificial Grass

But doesn’t artificial grass cost a lot more to install than natural sod?

It does.

While natural sod costs about $0.14 to $0.60 per square foot, artificial grass costs anywhere from $5 to as much as $20 per square foot. You might wonder, with such a large installation cost, does artificial grass really save you money in the long run?

Well, let’s take a look.

You Don’t Have to Maintain It

Keeping a nice lawn takes a lot of work. You have to revive patches of your lawn if it starts to die, pull up weeds, mow it, buy fertilizers, spend money on weed killers, etc. And whether you plan to do this all yourself or hire someone, you still have to invest a lot of money in your lawn every year.

If you can’t afford to pay someone to maintain your lawn, you have to get the right tools so you can do it yourself. This might include things like edgers, lawn mowers, weeders, rakes, and more. Some of these tools run on electricity or gas, which will just add to your expenses.

And the more you use them, the more worn down they get. You’ll have to buy new ones after a while, and some of these tools aren’t cheap.

Artificial grass doesn’t grow, so you never have to cut it. You don’t have to buy any tools or do any chores to upkeep your artificial lawn at all.

Artificial Grass Cost: How It Can Save You Money

Artificial grass is both good for the environment and for your bank account. It’s made of polyethylene, nylon, or polypropylene and colored to look like normal grass. It looks almost exactly the same as sod, and you don’t have to spend a lot of your time keeping it healthy and trimmed. Let’s take a look at artificial grass cost and how installing it in your yard can save you a lot of money.

You Don’t Have to Water It

If you have a sprinkler or irrigation system, part of your water bill goes toward your lawn. While this may not seem like that much money during the winter, that bill can get pretty high during the summer.

And water isn’t cheap either.

Because artificial grass is fake, it doesn’t need any water. This lowers the amount of water you use and, in turn, reduces the amount of money you spend on your water bill every year.

You don’t ever have to worry about watering your artificial grass, and that also means you don’t have to worry about your lawn dying or turning brown. Artifical grass keeps your lawn green and beautiful without spending any extra money on water.

Buying Artificial Grass Basics

There are a few basic considerations to make as you explore your artificial turf options.

Firstly, you should know that manufacturers of it have become experts on replicating the real thing, down to the different species of real grass.

This has led to an abundance of types and options for consumers to consider, based on their lifestyle and preferences.

A second point to make is to think about who will be using the grass, and how. For example, if you have pets, you may want to consider pet-friendly options that make waste-disposal a breeze.

Additionally, if you plan on using the turf frequently for any sports or games such as golf or soccer, you may want to select grass that is compatible with that.

A Quick-And-Easy Guide to Buying Artificial Grass for Your Home

Did you know that the average American spends nearly seventy hours each year maintaining their lawn and garden? The reality is that all of that time could be better spent with loved ones, on home repair projects, or working. Moreover, the benefits of ditching the traditional lawn go beyond saving you nearly three 24-hour days worth of work. Buying artificial grass allows you to save on gallons and gallons of water, which is beneficial for both your wallet and the environment.

An added bonus is that you don’t have to worry about putting harmful chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides in the same area your pets and children play on.

The future is here, and no longer must you be subjected to the traditional lawn because there is an alternative that works just as well, if not better, than the real thing.

Final Word on How to Clean Artificial Turf

Artificial turf is a low-maintenance yard solution that looks great all year round. Even during winter.

If you have pets, your best bet is to have a pet-safe turf installed. Then learn how to clean artificial turf. Ensure that you are always using products that are safe for turf. Avoid any chemicals that could harm pets or children.

At Synthetic Grass DFW, we install EasyTurf for hundreds of happy pet owners. Its revolutionary drainage solution leaves room for zero absorption.

Dealing with Hardened Feces

If you forget to go scoop up your dog’s poop for a few days or longer, you may have to work a little harder to clean up after your pet.

If you find dried dog poop, spray it with water from your hose. This will loosen the waste so it is easier to pick up.

Once you scoop what you can, give the area another rinse. You can then use a paper towel and your vinegar solution to clear away any remaining stool.

What to Do About Urine Odor

if your artificial grass is giving off a dog pee smell you need to deodorize those areas to get rid of the smell.

Start by hosing off the area with a garden hose. Then, make a vinegar solution of equal parts of vinegar and water. Spray the area with this solution and rinse with clean water.

Vinegar is a non-toxic, natural deodorizer that is safe for children and pets. It’s a great way to get rid of any bad smells inside the house too.

You can also purchase an artificial turf cleaner.

How to Clean Artificial Turf: A Guide for Pet Owners

Watering a lawn can use up to 20,400 gallons of water per month. Having artificial turf in your yard not only saves you water (and money on your water bill) but also provides a beautiful lawn that you and your pet can both enjoy. But do you know how to clean artificial turf after your dog is out there? Read on to find out.

Artificial Turf and Dog Urine and Feces

Artificial grass is installed so that liquids pass through the grass to the substrate underneath. It is made from a porous backing that doesn’t allow liquids or solids to get trapped in the grass.

Your installers can also add a turf deodorizer or install a membrane to provide more airflow between the base and turf.

Some artificial grass may also have crushed rocks under the turf to help filter liquids and small solids through to the soil layer.

When you have artificial turf installed, let your installer know that you have pets. There are some types of turf that have a special anti-microbial surface to prevent the spread of bacteria from feces.

The best way to prevent problems with artificial turf for pets is to clean it up right away. Just like when you take your dog for a walk, scoop it up and toss it in the bin.

Fresh dog poop is a lot easier to manage than when it has hardened onto your turf.

What Is Artificial Turf?

 Artificial turf features three parts:

  • Plastic blades of grass
  • Infill for support
  • Backing material

The infill of artificial grass comes from recycled tires, which is where many of the concerns regarding safety come from.

Why Might It Be Bad for Kids?

Some worry about the safety of synthetic turf because manufacturers expose tires to chemicals during the manufacturing process. The danger comes when kids slide around on the turf and cover themselves in fragments of the infill.

The issue came to the fore in 2014 when an investigation found that goalkeepers on American soccer teams experienced strange rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other cancers. A list of players with cancer included 38 total players with 34 of them playing as goalies.

However, many of those players came from Washington state, and there was no discussion of whether another environmental factor might be to blame for the incidence of cancer.

Artificial Turf: Is it Safe for Your Family?

Have you heard the rumors about the safety of artificial turf?

Artificial turf, sometimes called artificial grass, is a solution for lawns where grass doesn’t grow. You’ll also find it on most sports fields because it stands up to wear and tear better than its natural counterpart.

It’s durable, cheaper to maintain, and easier to install.

So why do some people dispute whether its safe? The answer is that some concerned parents worry about the issue after high-profile reporting of incidences of cancer.

While those cancer cases are real, placing the blame squarely on artificial grass doesn’t tell the whole story. Learn more and see how this can provide options for your lawn.

5 Questions to Guide Your Putting Green Design

For many golf enthusiasts, owning a personal putting green is the ultimate dream. Unlimited play time in the comfort of home— what could be better than that? In terms of material, it’s hard to beat artificial turf in Dallas. It provides the beauty and game mechanics of a golfing range, but with the low-maintenance nature and versatility of turf.

To make sure your putting green meets your expectations, you should consider every detail carefully. These five questions will help you arrive at the best design possible.

5 Questions to Guide Your Putting Green Design

Artificial grass may be the ideal putting green material, but your dream green is only possible with careful planning. Use the following questions as a design guide:

How much space do you need?

The size of your putting green depends on what you want to achieve and the size of your yard. Will you be practicing different shots and putts, or are you planning to work on your stroke? Your playing goals will affect how big should be.

Where do you want to place your green?

Next, consider the location of your new putting green. If your property is big enough, select an area with dips and hills to maximize the challenge. It’s okay if your yard doesn’t have natural slopes. The next best choice is a site where installers can recreate them.

Another important factor when choosing the location is safety. Ideally, it should be near enough so that people can access it easily, but away from windows, cars and spots that people frequent.

What features do you want on your putting green?

In an actual golf course, you’ll find features such as ponds and sand traps that make the game more fun and challenging. You can have the same experience with a backyard putting green made of artificial grass in Dallas, TX.

As long as your space can accommodate it, consider upgrading your green with multiple holes, bunkers and cuts of fringe to keep things exciting.

What shape would you like for your backyard putting green?

Experienced artificial grass installers can cut turf into virtually any shape and size, so don’t be afraid to get creative with your installation. Factor in the areas of your lawn you want to improve, and use these as a guide on which design and shape suit your playing style.

Who will be using your putting green?

Will you be the only one playing on your putting green, or are guests welcome to use it? Are you planning to share it with your children? These are important questions for any project involving artificial grass in Dallas.

This will affect a lot of elements, such as the location (e.g. if you’re using it as a social amenity, place it near your patio), design (kids love mini-golf courses, and you can use turf for that design) and features.

Increase the Value of Your Home

Home buyers are noticing upgrades and amenities more than ever. You can actually increase the sell value of your home with synthetic grass. It provides an almost maintenance-free backyard landscape AND stays lush and green all year-round!

Most synthetic grass manufacturers offer a 15-year warranty on their products. This means well-cared for grass can last more than a decade. That is definitely an investment! And something to be noted when selling or buying a home.

Invest in the Comfort of Your Backyard

Synthetic grass is definitely a financial investment in your home. More so, it is an investment in more time outside enjoying your backyard (or front yard, rooftop, balcony…). When you spend less time mowing, watering, edging, or seeding you spend more time enjoying your space.

So, is it worth it? We think so. We get to follow-up with happy clients daily. We hear it all the time: no more muddy dog paws, no more patchy grass areas, more time practicing their swing, loving the feel of the grass on their feet… all the reasons to invest in synthetic grass.

Is Synthetic Grass Worth The Investment?

Upgrading the aesthetic of your home with synthetic grass is definitely an investment. Is it worth it? The short answer is YES!

2021 saw an enormous increase in residential installations of synthetic grass. And for good reason. With its versatility, durability, and clean look… turf brings a lot to the table. But, should you invest?

Increase the Usability of Your Space

We have installed synthetic grass in the most unusual places. From indoor putting greens, to rooftops and balconies the options are endless.  If you have a small yard synthetic grass can be used to break up your space. We recommend a dog runputting green, or play area for kids as great additions to increase usability in your backyard landscape.

Another way to enhance your backyard space is with synthetic grass in and around poolscapes. These areas stay green and lush all year-round reducing muddy spots or grass clippings in the pool. Not to mention, many times the areas around pools are awkwardly shaped or small. Therefore, they are difficult areas to grow natural grass. Artificial turf can save you the mowing, seeding and sodding time.

We also install synthetic grass on a number of patios, balconies and rooftops. What better way to spend your time outside than with soft grass underfoot? It helps increase the comfort level when enjoying your time outside. It is definitely worth the investment.

For Dog Owners: Why Artificial Grass for Dogs Near Me Beats Natural Grass

Artificial grass has become a favorite among Dallas pet owners, especially those with dogs, for its unique features that outclass natural grass.

Wondering if you should make the switch? Here are some of the benefits you can look forward to when you invest in artificial grass for dogs near me:

1. Durability and Resilience with Artificial Grass

Artificial grass for dogs near me is significantly more durable than its natural counterpart. Paws, claws, digging, and roughhousing that would leave a natural lawn looking like a battlefield have little to no impact on artificial grass.

The synthetic fibers of this grass are made to resist these daily onslaughts and bounce right back to their original shape.

2. Stain and Odor Resistance

Dog urine and feces can leave unsightly discolorations and unpleasant smells in natural grass.

In contrast, artificial grass doesn’t absorb liquids or odors, which means it is virtually stain-proof. Waste is easily cleaned up without leaving any residue or odors behind.

Some artificial grasses, like the ones we use, even come with an antimicrobial layer, further reducing the chance of any unpleasant smells lingering.

3. Digging Deterrence

Artificial grass in Dallas offers an excellent solution for dogs that love to dig. As it is securely installed with a strong backing, your dog’s attempts to dig will be fruitless.

This makes it a great deterrent for potential diggers and eliminates the risk of unsightly holes or ruined landscapes that you might face with natural grass.

4. Pest Repellant with Artificial Grass

Natural grass can harbor ticks, fleas, and other pests that pose a risk to dogs. On the other hand, synthetic grass is not appealing to insects, pests, or parasites. If any of these bugs do find their way onto your lawn, they won’t survive for long.

By choosing artificial grass, you remove this risk, contributing to a safer, healthier play environment for your furry friend.

5. Artificial Grass are Non-Toxic and Safe

Artificial grass is made from non-toxic materials that are safe for dogs and children. It also eliminates the need for harmful pesticides or fertilizers that are often required to maintain a natural lawn.

6. Consistent Surface

With natural grass, uneven surfaces, bare spots, or muddy patches can become hazardous, especially for active dogs. Artificial grass offers a smooth, even surface that helps prevent slips, falls, and injuries, making it a safer choice for dog owners.

7. Low Maintenance – More Time for Play

A synthetic lawn requires less maintenance than natural grass, which is often subject to damage from dogs. You won’t have to worry about seeding, watering, mowing, or weeding.

The occasional rinse and brush are all it takes to keep artificial grass looking fresh and clean, even with a dog or several running around.

As a bonus, this also means you now have more time for bonding with your dog – play fetch, teach them tricks, or just relax on your soft and gorgeous synthetic yard.

8. Tough All Weather Conditions

Lastly, artificial grass is unaffected by weather conditions, which is not the case for natural grass. Be it scorching heat, freezing cold, or heavy rainfall, artificial grass retains its resilience and beauty.

And unlike natural grass that can become muddy and damaged when wet, artificial grass stays dry and durable, which means a cleaner pet and home.

Today the Great Salt Lake takes up roughly 950 square miles

Today the Great Salt Lake takes up roughly 950 square miles, less than a third of its former size in 1987! Ecologists warn of a possible environmental and economic disaster should the Great Salt Lake dry up. The lake bed contains a relatively large amount of arsenic, mercury, and lead which could create poisonous dust clouds should the lake dry up completely.

“The prognosis isn’t good unless there’s massive action. But we have to start within one year, we have to take action now,” says Salt Lake City mayor Erin Mendenhall.

By switching to artificial turf and other forms of drought friendly water, Utah residents can virtually eliminate the need for residential landscape irrigation. “Nationwide, landscape irrigation is estimated to account for nearly one-third of all residential water use, totaling nearly 9 billion gallons per day,” says the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Artificial Grass Rebates are coming to Utah!

State Allocates $5 Million to Support Waterwise Landscaping

The Utah legislature has granted the Division of Water Resources five million dollars to use in a statewide grass removal rebate program. This exciting new program encourages people to switch to waterwise landscaping. Now Utah homeowners will be able to offset the cost of installing artificial turf!

The full statewide program will launch through utahwatersavers.com in spring 2023.

The Division of Water Resources is working with Central Utah, Jordan Valley, Washington County and Weber Basin Water Conservancy Districts to develop program standards for what will be considered “waterwise landscaping.” Communities will work with their districts to adopt standards that qualify for the statewide program.

This program also comes with water conscious rules for new developments. At the very least, this new program will require that park strips in new developments will not have natural grass landscaping. The program will also stipulate that grass lawn areas will exceed no more than half of the total landscaped area for front and side yards.

Eligible participants can receive up to $3 per square foot of lawn replaced with waterwise landscaping. Rebate amount varies by location. Once your application has been approved, you have up to one year to complete your landscaping project.

Turf Outlet Sells the Best Wholesale Artificial Grass for Commercial Applications

At Turf Outlet, we sell top-quality artificial turf, including some of the best wholesale artificial grass for commercial applications. In addition to saving on water and maintenance costs, businesses can benefit from the low environmental impact of our commercial artificial grass, which requires no fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. It also offers a consistently lush and green surface for years, making it a highly cost-effective and beautifying investment.

Wholesale Artificial Grass for Commercial Applications

Wholesale commercial artificial grass from Turf Outlet is an affordable and efficient solution for commercial lawns and landscapes. This type of artificial grass is specifically designed to withstand high foot traffic areas and other common forms of wear and tear. Additionally, our commercial artificial turf comes in a variety of styles and shades of green that can help match the aesthetic of virtually any business, including offices, retail stores, shopping centers, restaurants, and more.

10 Reasons To Think Twice About Artificial Turf (From A Designer Who Has Used It)

Here are 10 things that might make you think twice about artificial turf:

  1. Price. I'm not going to bury the lede... there is a significant investment involved. A properly installed artificial lawn is more like your paver patio than your traditional lawn. Expect to pay $25-$35 a square foot. Yes, a 1000 square foot lawn will be over $25K. Note that this assumes your turf is installed properly. Most is not.

  2. Low maintenance, not NO maintenance. Yes, your required mowings will go from 40 per year to 0. However, it will need to be cleared of leaves and debris if you have trees nearby. And even if you don't, fake grass wants to be raked occasionally to look its best. There is no app for that, but we do provide a special rake with every installation. Get one here.

  3. Infill scares you. One of the final steps when installing a synthetic lawn is to apply "infill". This product filters down into the turf, weighing it down, making it look better and feel softer on your feet. But you don't live in a cave so you heard about the dangers of infill. The good news is that the "crumb rubber" infill that caused problems is no longer in use. We use a ceramic coated sand product that is totally safe.

  4. You have south facing windows.... that get full sun in the summer. This is a tough one. The sun may reflect off the windows and melt some of the turf! This situation is common enough that it is not covered by turf manufacturer's warranties. It is also common enough that we can usually design a way around it.

  5. The seams are the tough part. If more than one roll of turf is required for your lawn there will be a place where the rolls meet. (Just like carpet in a large room.) Matching these two and seaming them well is the hardest part of installing synthetic grass. This means you probably shouldn't DIY or be the first synthetic grass project your landscaper has ever done.

  6. It doesn't look like your old lawn. It looks better. And while a traditional lawn never looks better than it does shortly after installation, your synthetic lawn will look just as perfect in 5 years.

  7. Kids love it. This stuff begs to be played on, even in the winter. So if you don't want kids running around in your yard consider installing some really splintery bark dust instead. But if you want to let your future Timber play soccer year-round, synthetic lawn is what you need.

  8. Drainage. You do not want water to be sitting under your lawn for days. It will eventually cause problems with the base it is installed on. So, depending on the grade of your yard and how well your soil drains we may need to install some drainage underneath. A simple French drain with corrugated pipe leading to a dry well should do the trick.

  9. The color won't last forever (but what will?) The deep green of a syn-lawn is pretty hard to resist. But eventually that color will be begin to fade. The turf Ross NW Watergardens installs has a 10 year warranty on the color. So how long will the color last? Ask me in 20 years.

  10. Envy is bad for the neighborhood. Your perfect lawn (that requires no mowing, watering, fertilizing, aerating, dethatching, etc) is sure to catch the eye of your neighbors. Can they handle how much better your yard is?

YOU HELP KEEP OUR WATER CLEAN

 DRAINAGE BENEFITS

Because the water is leaving just as fast as it’s dropping in, you prevent spore and bacteria growth, keeping your landscape safe for pets and kids. You also avoid muddy holes, puddles, and standing water which attracts a wide variety of bugs to your backyard. When it comes to your pets doing their business, the same benefits of drainage capabilities with rainfall apply as well. Pet urine drains through without leaving dead, brown spots on your perfect lawn. The other doggy business can be picked up and rinsed away quickly with no issues.

Many homeowners don’t think about the adverse effects of rain when it comes to a natural lawn. If you’re using fertilizers, bug sprays, and other chemical substances to keep natural grass alive, keep in mind where those things go when it rains. All of those chemicals run off and can end up in places we don’t want them to be, including the ocean. When you install artificial grass, you’re keeping all the chemicals off the lawn and helping prevent water pollution every single day.

When it comes down to it, Ags turf believes in making artificial turf the best option for any home or business. We work hard to give our customers only the best turf products on the market, so you’re never concerned about flooding, bugs, pet urine, mud, or water pollution. Superior drainage will keep your home looking green, beautiful, and efficient all year long. If you’re interested in taking advantage of all these benefits, make sure to give our team a call. We would love to assist you in making the switch.

ARTIFICIAL GRASS & FAST DRAINAGE

In Southern California, we know the chance of rain is always a slim one. However, on occasions where the clouds do come out to play, many homeowners question how effective their artificial grass installation is going to be at draining the water. Here at Ags turf, we are always proud to say that we provide our customers with turf products that are not only designed to ensure zero flooding and fast drainage, but also protects against other liquids your artificial grass lawn might encounter.

DRAINAGE CAPABILITIES

It might be hard to believe, but our artificial grass products drain more water than a natural grass lawn. When it rains, water percolates through ½ centimeter holes in the backing and flows through the base layer, avoiding any overflowing. The backing of our turf drains at a rate of 30 inches of water per hour per square yard. You’ll have no issues with a flooded backyard in the off chance of a rogue Anaheim rainstorm.

you’ve worked incredibly hard this year

Honestly, you’ve worked incredibly hard this year, and you deserve a break. You deserve to enjoy the holiday season and every day after. With an artificial grass lawn, you won’t have to worry about mowing, fertilizing, or watering it, and guess what? It’s still going to be as green and luscious as the first day it was installed. There will be no discolorations, no dead spots, and no overgrown grass because your new lawn is low-maintenance. A low-maintenance lawn means you have more time to sip hot chocolate by the fire with your family.

Buying gifts can get expensive quickly. But with artificial grass, you can save money in the long run. You deserve to spend money on what matters. We all know that water doesn’t come cheap in Laguna Niguel, so why continue paying such a high water bill? Artificial grass eliminates the need for fertilizing and watering, which means you can finally say bye to that hefty water bill every month!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT ARTIFICIAL GRASS FOR YOUR FOOT TRAFFIC

Many homes are now converting to artificial grass in Laguna Niguel due to its durability and natural appearance. Although artificial turf was once unsightly and unnatural in appearance, advancements in technology in recent years have made it possible for our synthetic turf products to be completely natural looking and even softer than real grass. However, levels of durability between turf products can vary, so it’s essential that you choose the right product for your expected level of foot traffic when installing artificial grass in your Laguna Niguel residence.

Outdoors, absorbed infrared sunlight is transformed into heat.

Outdoors, absorbed infrared sunlight is transformed into heat. Conventional dark colors, like those in standard artificial turf, absorb infrared light, causing high heat buildup and raising surface temperatures. With heat-reflective dark colors, like those used in our TigerCool turf products, infrared light is reflected instead of absorbed, causing a decrease in heat buildup. In a series of solar panel tests, it was indicated that TigerCool technology successfully reduces turf temperatures by 15 percent and up to 10 degrees, making it safer and more comfortable for you and your family to enjoy your artificial grass in Laguna Niguel.

TigerCool is used throughout our Diamond series and Marquee series – two of our best-selling lines. Both offer products for a range of needs, covering light to heavy foot traffic. Pile heights range from 1.75 inches to 1.875 inches, and face weights vary from 60 ounces to 75 ounces. All of our products are safe for children and pet-friendly so that you can be worry-free all year long.

TIGERCOOL ARTIFICIAL TURF PRODUCTS

It’s getting warmer every day in Laguna Niguel, and soon the blistering summer heat will be out in full force. When the weather heats up, you want your backyard to provide an oasis where you can cool off and make the most of the sunshine. Whether it’s you, your kids, or your pets, no one wants to run around on grass that burns their feet. With our range of products featuring innovative TigerCool technology, you won’t ever have to worry about heat ruining your outdoor activities again.

Our TigerTurf products feature the latest innovations available for artificial turf, including first-of-its-kind TigerCool temperature-control technology. In early generations of poorly-produced artificial turf, the surface temperature of the synthetic grass could often exceed 175 degrees. Not only is this uncomfortable for you, but it’s unsafe for your children and pets.

Through years of research and development, TigerTurf and Tencate have revolutionized the artificial turf industry. However, levels of durability between turf products can vary, so it’s essential that you choose the right product for your expected level of foot traffic when installing artificial grass in your Laguna Niguel residence.

There are several components that determine a turf’s durability:

In our turf grass products, synthetic blades are tucked into a polyurethane backing that keeps the fibers intact. The most durable backings can resist thousands of pounds of resistance per square inch, making them optimal for high-traffic areas such as sports fields. There are two layers to the backing: the primary backing, where the blades are looped through, and the coating where the tuft bind is glued in. Tuft bind can withstand about ten pounds of force, on average, before monofilament will be removed from the backing. This is much more substantial and resistant than natural grass, which can be pulled out extremely easily, resulting in unattractive patches on your lawn.

REAL GRASS VS SYNTHETIC GRASS LAWNS

If you want to make your Laguna Niguel home the envy of the neighborhood with a flawless front lawn that takes no effort to maintain, then switch from real grass to a synthetic grass lawn today. With Grizzly Turf artificial grass installation, you can completely transform your home and see a quick ROI, whether you’re planning to sell soon or just upgrade your forever home. Increase your property value, enhance its aesthetic appeal, and save hundreds on maintenance with a synthetic grass lawn from Grizzly Turf.

ENHANCED CURB APPEAL

Summer or winter, rain or shine, artificial grass remains lush and perfectly green all year long. The synthetic polyethylene material doesn’t require any maintenance in order to preserve its color, and it’s even created with UV inhibitors that prevent it from fading in the sun. Our synthetic turf products have dual-toned blades with brown thatch for an extremely natural appearance that will have all of your neighbors wondering how you maintain such a perfect lawn.

YOUR DOG WILL NEVER NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE

Pet owners know for a fact that pests are the natural enemy of their furry friends. This is especially the case when dogs are playing on a natural grass lawn, as these lawns are a breeding ground for fleas, ticks, and countless other creatures. Synthetic grass lawns, including those installed by the experts at Grizzly Turf, are a perfect solution for getting rid of dangerous pests that can attach themselves to your dogs since artificial turf is virtually unsustainable for these creatures.

YOUR DOG WILL NEVER NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE

We love our dogs, but let’s face it; they aren’t always the brightest creatures, but we love them for it! This will actually work in your favor when switching to artificial turf. Artificial grass lawns have a color, texture, and shape that resembles natural grass enough for your dog to not notice that you’ve changed your lawn. Your companion will roll around the lawn, and you’ll rest easy knowing that your new synthetic turf can handle it and so much more!

3 REASONS WHY YOUR DOG WILL LOVE ARTIFICIAL TURF

Dog owners everywhere can attest to how much they love their furry companions. It’s no secret that dogs are full of unconditional love and happiness, and they know nothing more than to enjoy life with their favorite people. However, dogs having an endless supply of joy also means that they have no sense of precaution, especially for your lawn. Natural grass can pose many risks to your dog’s health, which could result in the constant supervision of your dog. With an artificial turf lawn, pet hazards are a thing of the past. Here are three key reasons why your dog will thank you when you make the switch from natural grass to artificial grass on your lawn.

EASY TO MAINTAIN

The maintenance factor in switching to an artificial turf lawn is certainly a no-brainer; this is even more so when considering a synthetic grass lawn for your dogs. The bacteria and odor left behind by pet waste can cause significant damage to your natural grass lawn, even going as far as preventing future grass from growing! With an artificial turf lawn, pet waste damage is nonexistent, meaning that your furry friend can go out to frolic and take care of their business as much as they want without overwhelming you. Pet waste can simply be picked up and tossed away without worrying about any long-term effects. In addition, chemical treatments won’t be necessary to clean the affected area as most synthetic turf can be cleaned with soap and water. This will ensure maximum playtime for your dog with minimal effort afterward!

LISTEN TO PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS

 LISTEN TO PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS

If you’re on the fence about choosing an artificial turf installer, pay attention to their reviews. A good synthetic turf landscaping company like Grizzly Turf will publicly post their testimonials for all to see. In addition, checking out reviews on third-party review sites like Yelp or Google should give you sufficient information as to whether or not an installer is trustworthy. When all else fails, nothing beats good, old-fashioned word of mouth; talk to your friends and neighbors with artificial turf installations and listen to what they have to say. Take a look at their lawns and ask as many questions as you can!

GATHER ALL OF THE FACTS

As soon as you’ve narrowed down your search to the installers you really have your eye on, the next step is to get as much information as possible on each company. Here are some factors to look for:

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ARTIFICIAL TURF INSTALLATION COMPANY

It’s no secret that installing artificial turf for your home or business is an investment that pays for itself. However, the quality of the investment is only as good as the team responsible for installing it. Of course, you’ll want to make sure that your artificial turf installer has the reputation and product knowledge to get your project done. Here are some practical tips to find the perfect artificial grass installer for your residential or commercial project.

DO YOUR RESEARCH

Before putting pen to paper on any project, make sure you have done sufficient research on your artificial turf company. Some factors to consider in your research include:

Company history – How long has the company been in business? How much experience does the company’s team have? Newer companies may have installers who know the fundamentals of synthetic grass installation but lack experience, resulting in subpar work. This is an important detail as you’ll want a synthetic grass installer with the experience to work on the complexities of your yard.

Endorsement – Is your installer supported by the company you’re buying your artificial turf from? Most synthetic turf suppliers will have vendors that are covered under their manufacturer’s warranty, and choosing a company that is not endorsed by the supplier could compromise that warranty. Grizzly Turf has a vast selection of synthetic grass products to choose from, each backed by a 15-year warranty, so you won’t have to worry about this issue with us!

KEEP TENSILE STRENGTH INTACT

 KEEP TENSILE STRENGTH INTACT

Every artificial turf lawn has a varying degree of tensile strength — the synthetic grass’ ability to handle wear and tear for the life of the turf. UV rays can break down untreated artificial grass’ tensile strength, making it more susceptible to breakage. This is especially true for sports turf or artificial turf putting greens. UV-treated synthetic turf is perfect for outdoor event venues, soccer fields, and playgrounds!

KEEP YOUR FAMILY SAFE WITH UV-TREATED SYNTHETIC TURF

Once untreated artificial turf breaks down from prolonged exposure to the sun, it will begin to stretch out and sag. This sagging creates wrinkles, which can pose a grave threat to the safety of your family and guests who visit your home and spend time on your artificial grass lawn. By protecting your turf from UV rays, you maintain your synthetic turf’s structural integrity and keep your family safe.

No matter the reason for wanting artificial turf for your home or business, you certainly cannot go wrong with UV-stabilized synthetic turf, such as the products installed by the experts at Grizzly Turf. Our Diamond Light Fescue, Diamond Light Spring, Diamond Pro Spring, and Diamond Pro Fescue turf styles are each built with TigerCool technology, made with heat-reflective color pigments and advanced UV inhibitors that reduce the surface temperature of the artificial turf in your home or business. Additionally, our team of artificial grass installers works tirelessly to ensure a synthetic turf lawn that is beautiful, functional, and weather-resistant. Our UV-resistant artificial grass products, along with the rest of our lineup of world-class synthetic turf products, are backed by a 15-year warranty, granting you the peace of mind you deserve.

TIPS FOR INSTALLING ARTIFICIAL GRASS PUTTING GREENS IN SMALL SPACES

Private putting greens have increased in popularity amongst property owners over recent years. However, it may seem impossible for homeowners with small yards to have their personal putting green due to a lack of space.

Fortunately, this isn’t true, thanks to artificial grass. Artificial turf allows homeowners to have their own artificial grass putting green, no matter their yard’s size.

Installing a synthetic grass putting green with limited space will require some creativity. Here are some ideas you can discuss with your artificial grass installer for your installation project.

USE YOUR ENTIRE YARD

For the most immersive golfing experience, you can choose to use your entire yard for your artificial grass putting green. You would be maximizing your yard space and providing yourself with a fun challenge that will improve your putting game.

CONNECT YOUR OUTDOOR SPACES

Homeowners with various unused outdoor spaces can come up with a synthetic grass putting green design that incorporates them all together. It can make for an unconventional golfing experience that resembles what you would find at a mini-golf course.

A POOLSIDE PUTTING GREEN

Why not spice up your poolside area with an artificial turf putting green? It would give your pool area a unique aesthetic and provide you with something to do when you’re not relaxing in your swimming pool.

As synthetic turf features excellent drainage, you will never have to worry about any slippage issues if water does get onto your artificial putting green.

A high-quality infill can contribute to a synthetic turf

A high-quality infill can contribute to a synthetic turf’s drainage efficiency helping facilitate seamless water flow throughout a surface. This will keep your artificial grass putting green dry and the ball speed consistent.

POSITIONING

If not correctly installed, an artificial turf putting green can shift and change positioning when there is heavy wind or extreme heat. This can ruin your golfing experience and compromise the structural integrity of your putting green, drastically shortening its lifespan.

Infill can be used to weigh down and secure your turf, preventing any movement from occurring no matter what the conditions are like. This will prevent your surface from wrinkling and allow your synthetic grass to remain smooth and consistent.

CLEANLINESS

One of the many benefits of artificial grass putting greens is their cleanliness. While natural grass can be prone to mold and mildew growth when exposed to water, synthetic turf doesn’t suffer from this issue because of its hygienic properties and infill, which adds further bacterial protection. You’ll never have to worry about mold or bacteria staining your putting green and getting in the way of playing the game you love.

4 IMPORTANT WAYS THAT INFILL AFFECTS ARTIFICIAL GRASS PUTTING GREEN INSTALLATION

Golf enthusiasts can bring their passion home by adding an artificial grass putting green. Having a personal putting green will provide you with endless entertainment and allow you to practice your game whenever you want.

Here at Grizzly Turf, we offer a wide selection of world-class artificial turf putting green products to fulfill any need. Our synthetic grass products are the best in the business and perfectly replicate the look and feel of a professional putting green.

We back up our exceptional products with an elite team of artificial grass installers who can implement any design that you can imagine. Our synthetic grass installers regularly execute successful putting green installations, thanks to our attention to detail.

We make sure to get everything right, especially crucial aspects, right down to your infill. While several factors determine the success of a synthetic grass putting green installation, few affect your synthetic grass installation as much as the infill.

BALL ROLL

Those who want an authentic and realistic golfing experience will need a synthetic grass putting green surface with short, upright turf blades that are densely packed. A putting green with flat turf fibers will have an unrealistic ball roll and be less enjoyable for golfers.

A well-distributed infill helps ensure that your artificial turf blades remain straight and upright to allow for smooth ball roll whenever you’re practicing your putting game.

BALL SPEED

Rain can disrupt your putting green experience by wetting your surface and inhibiting ball speed. An artificial grass putting green can prevent this with excellent drainage that stops any excessive water buildup from occurring.

SYNTHETIC TURF CAN PERFECTLY HANDLE HEAVY USE

That’s why artificial grass is the best surface to use for public spaces, as it is hygienic and doesn’t need nearly the same level of maintenance, allowing you to save substantial time and money. With increased savings from reduced maintenance costs, companies can afford to spend their money elsewhere to help improve their overall efficiency.

SYNTHETIC TURF CAN PERFECTLY HANDLE HEAVY USE

Busy businesses and commercial properties whose public spaces see lots of foot traffic need a surface capable of handling such heavy activity. Not having a surface durable enough for extensive use can lead to performance issues involving your public space and even disrupt your daily business operations.

Durability is never a concern with artificial turf, the most resilient landscaping option available to commercial property owners. Artificial grass is as tough as they come and can deal with heavy foot traffic without suffering any performance dropoffs.

5 REASONS ARTIFICIAL GRASS INSTALLATION MAKES SENSE FOR YOUR PUBLIC SPACE

Artificial grass’s increasing popularity is the result of not just its world-class quality but also its versatility. Synthetic grass can be implemented anywhere for stunning results and will always visually and functionally enhance whatever area it’s placed. That’s why many businesses, restaurants and commercial properties choose to install artificial grass in their public spaces.

More than any other surface, synthetic turf makes overseeing a public space a smoother and more manageable endeavor for commercial property owners.

ARTIFICIAL GRASS REDUCES MAINTENANCE COSTS

As many commercial property owners can attest, maintaining a sizable public outdoor space isn’t cheap, especially when it uses a natural grass surface. Natural grass is particularly costly to manage because it requires regular watering, mowing and fertilizing to preserve its appearance and functionality. These demands are time-consuming and expensive for any business.

The materials that make up your artificial grass should be of the highest quality and feature incredible durability.

 USAGE OF DURABLE MATERIAL

The materials that make up your artificial grass should be of the highest quality and feature incredible durability. That’s because the longest-lasting and most durable synthetic grass is usually made from sturdy materials like nylon and polyethylene. These materials hold up no matter what they’re up against, whether it’s extreme weather or extensive usage, allowing your surface to continue functioning as intended.

THE INFILL

An essential aspect of any synthetic grass surface is its infill. The optimal infill will keep the turf blades upright and enhance the resiliency of the artificial grass. There are countless infill options, and the ideal choice for you depends on the characteristics you value most and your intended use for your surface.

We can say that many high-quality synthetic grass products feature an antimicrobial infill that helps prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew, preserving the structural integrity of the surface and ensuring a safe environment for those who use it.

INSTALLATION QUALITY

Installation quality is pivotal to the success of any artificial turf surface. Long-lasting, durable synthetic turf is nearly impossible to achieve with an improper installation that leaves you with a surface in need of immediate repairs and with poor drainage, all factors that can threaten the lifespan of your artificial grass. Take zero chances with your artificial grass installation by hiring a professional installer to ensure a world-class surface built to last for many years without issue.

Artificial Grass: Endless Possibilities for Diverse Applications

Artificial grass has become a popular choice for homeowners, but its versatility extends far beyond residential lawns. From sports fields to commercial landscapes and outdoor play areas, synthetic turf offers endless possibilities for a variety of applications. In this article, we will explore the wide range of places where artificial grass can be used and highlight its impressive durability and minimal maintenance requirements.

Impressive Durability and Minimal Maintenance:

Artificial grass is designed to withstand heavy use and adverse weather conditions, ensuring long-lasting performance. The impact absorption and cushioning properties of the shock pad significantly reduce the risk of fall-related injuries, ensuring peace of mind for parents and caretakers. By investing in a shock pad, you create a secure and fun-filled space where children can freely and safely explore. Prioritize the safety of your play area by incorporating a shock pad and provide children with an environment that promotes their well-being and enjoyment.

Applying Shock Pad Underneath Artificial Grass for Kids’ Play Areas

Ensuring the safety of children is paramount when designing play areas. A shock pad, placed beneath artificial grass, plays a vital role in reducing the risk of fall-related injuries. In this article, we will explore the benefits of utilizing a shock pad, including impact absorption, cushioning and comfort, consistent play surface, and improved drainage. Discover why incorporating a shock pad is crucial for meeting higher safety protection requirements and creating a secure and enjoyable environment for children.

Benefits of Using a Shock Pad:

  1. Impact Absorption: A shock pad effectively disperses the energy from falls, minimizing the force transmitted to a child’s body and preventing serious injuries.

  2. Cushioning and Comfort: The additional layer of a shock pad enhances the play area’s comfort, creating a softer surface that reduces the likelihood of bumps, scrapes, and bruises.

  3. Consistent Surface: By installing a shock pad, you ensure a level and consistent play area, eliminating unevenness and tripping hazards, and maintaining a smooth surface for children to play on.

  4. Improved Drainage: The inclusion of a shock pad enhances the drainage capabilities of the play area, facilitating efficient water flow and faster drying times.
